How do I download a backup archive of my website?

Backups allow you to download to your computer a zipped copy of either you entire site (your home directory, databases, email forwarders configuration, email filters configuration) or one of the previously mentioned parts of your site.

Within cPanel, go to Files > Backup to download a backup of your website.

From here, you can choose to download a Full Backup or a Partial Backup.

  • A Partial Backup can be either your:
    • home directory - contains your website files (HTML webpage, images, documents, etc.)
    • mySQL databases
    • email forwarder and filters.
  • A Full Backup includes all of the above.

All the backup files are compressed as a gzipped tar files (.tar.gz), therefore you will need software which can extract these formats. We recommend the open-source tool, 7-Zip.
