Why should I register a domain name?

Reasons for obtaining a domain are diverse, and although a person may simply want one for there own interests, there are very good reasons for obtaining a domain.

  1. Domain names allow people to remember and even guess your website address easily.
  2. Do you really want your customers or users seeing yourname@msn.com or http://yourisp.com/~yourname/? First impressions are important, and yourdomain.com.au and yourname@yourdomain.com.au certainly leaves a better impression on people, and also generates higher respect for your website.
  3. Registering domain names for keywords related to your website or business is a search engine optimisation strategy. It has been said that search engines, such as Google, will give your website higher ratings for keywords if they make up your domain name.
