Things to consider when when registering a domain name...

Some of these suggestions are obvious, while some may not be.

  • It is good to keep your domain name as short and simple as possible, as such will be easier for people to remember and type.
  • Choose a domain name that is memorable and relevant to the name of your organisation or website.
  • If registering a domain name that would otherwise contain spaces, it is considered better practice to register the name without hyphens ('-').
  • Consider registering multiple extensions (e.g., .com) and/or registering domains with certain related keywords (especially if a business) as this can also help people find your website.
